  • When it comes to the preschool  child, much more is "caught than taught." Educators of young children, both parents and teachers, have an awesome responsibility.
  • The early years are critical in the development of the child. A basic foundation of the child's concept of self, others, and God is established during these formative years. The home and the preschool must work together to promote this development and to meet the spiritual and educational needs of the young child.
  • The purpose of "Wee Care" Day Care and Preschool" is to provide an opportunity and program of growth for young children between the ages of two and twelve years. This program includes guidance for growth physically, mentally and spiritually. The center is operated in compliance with the minimum rules and regulations for the State of California as required by the Department of Social Services.

CURRICULUM

  • Early childhood is a critical time in the development of a child's perceptions of self, others, the world, and God. The goal of the Christian preschools curriculum is to stimulate the child's physical, mental, emotional and social development while maintaining a strong emphasis throughout.
  • The preschool uses A Beka curriculum. Your child will receive a strong foundation in reading, math, and writing readiness with the A Beka Program as well as through unit themes, interest centers, art, music and physical activity.

PARENT COMMUNICATION

  • Monthly newsletters are sent home from the office containing current information for all the families enrolled. Monthly newsletters are sent home from your child's teacher with information about what your child will be doing and what he or she will be learning. Parent memos are sent home periodically to let you know how your child is doing socially, academically and behaviorally.

TESTING

  • Your pre-kindergarten child will be tested by the teacher in the middle and again at the end of the preschool year to determine his or her level of readiness for kindergarten and social and physical (in areas of coordination) progress. This is not the final determining factor for kindergarten readiness. Children change and grow constantly and much maturing happens in the summer between preschool and kindergarten. These progress reports are only informational and are not diagnostic. You will receive a copy of all such reports.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

  • The day care & preschool classes will attend chapel services on Friday morning. We do have several occasions during the year for special classroom activities. Parents and friends are invited to come for these occasions. If your child is having a birthday and you want a small party, you can notify the teacher on the class day prior to the actual day of the party. School age students go on regularly scheduled field trips during the summer.

DRESS

  • There is no established dress code, but please dress your child so that he or she can play with finger paints, glue, etc., and not have to worry about getting dirty. We also go outdoors whenever the weather permits, so your child should have the appropriate clothing. We do not go out when it is raining or very cold/hot but will go to the gym if it is not in use. Children who are "dressed up" cannot play as freely as they can when dressed more casually.

GRADUATION

  • There is a special program for the children and their families at the end of the year. This is very important to the children, moms, dads, or aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas and we try to make it an extra special occasion. At this time, we hand out diplomas.
